Day 1 ARRIVAL IN ROME
Welcome to the magnificent city of Rome!
Upon your arrival at the airport, we will be there to greet you and provide transportation to our hotel. Depending on the timing of your arrival, you will have some leisure time to unwind and fully embrace the delightful dolce vita lifestyle. This timeless and opulent city, known for its romantic allure, will be your gracious host for the day, before we meet for an introductory briefing, marking the commencement of your thrilling riding adventure. The starting point of the tour is Frascati, a charming historic hill-town located just 20 kilometers southeast of Rome, conveniently accessible by train. Choosing Frascati as our launch point allows us to avoid the heavy traffic in Rome, making it a highly convenient and practical starting location. At 4 PM, we will gather for the introductory briefing, followed by a delightful welcome dinner at a traditional Italian trattoria in the evening.
Day 2 ROME TO NAPLES
Our journey commences with a road trip towards the southeast of Rome, where we get to experience the authentic essence of Italy. As we traverse the roads alongside the coastline, we are treated to mesmerizing hues of blue, while enjoying the thrill of navigating through delightful curves all the way to Naples. A delightful break awaits us in the splendidly white town of Sperlonga, where we can relish a delectable lunch with a breathtaking view of the unbelievably azure Tyrrhenian Sea—a truly soothing taste of the sweet life, la dolce vita. Before we bid farewell, we make a visit to the captivating Mastio Angioino castle, situated a mere hundred meters from the port of Naples, creating a memorable farewell moment. Soon after, we embark on an overnight ferry voyage, setting sail for the enchanting island of Sicily. Our journey has just begun!
Day 3 PALERMO
Upon our arrival in Palermo and indulging in a delightful breakfast amidst the vibrant streets of this bustling city, get ready for a remarkable change in scenery as we embark on an exhilarating journey of several thrilling kilometers.
Following breakfast, our ride begins towards the western end of the island, renowned for its salt plains where the precious “white gold” is still produced using traditional methods. The expansive flat plains are adorned with picturesque windmills, creating a unique and enchanting ambiance. Our next stop is the captivating medieval town of Erice, perched atop a hill, offering breathtaking panoramic views of the western coast. We will savor a delectable lunch in the charming town of Castellmare del Golfo before returning to Palermo in the afternoon, allowing us to explore and immerse ourselves in the vibrant energy of this captivating city.
Day 4 PALERMO TO AGRIGENTO
Continuing our journey, we venture inland towards Corleone, famously known as “the city of a hundred churches,” which has gained infamy due to its association with the Mafia, both in cinematic portrayals and in reality.
Our next destination is Agrigento, where we will explore the captivating Valley of the Temples, a UNESCO World Heritage site. This remarkable location holds immense historical significance and is considered one of the most significant sites in the Mediterranean. Within the valley, you will find an impressive collection of ancient Greek structures, including seven monumental temples that were masterfully constructed during the 6th and 5th centuries B.C., making it the largest and best-preserved assemblage of ancient Greek buildings in existence.
Day 5 AGRIGENTO TO SYRACUSE
We embark on a delightful ride as we head in the northeast direction, traversing through meticulously arranged vineyards that create a picturesque landscape.
Our route takes us through Caltagirone, a renowned hub of ceramic art, before arriving at the captivating city of Noto, located in the southeastern part of the island. Noto boasts one of Sicily’s most magnificent historic centers, adorned with awe-inspiring baroque palaces and churches. While the city has a rich history spanning many centuries, the Noto you witness today predominantly dates back to the early 18th century when it was meticulously reconstructed following the devastating earthquake of 1693. Continuing our journey, we proceed northwards and conclude the day’s adventure in Syracuse, a city celebrated for its remarkable ancient ruins.
Day 6 SYRACUSE REST DAY
During its prime, Syracuse surpassed both Athens and Corinth in size, making it the most populous city in the ancient world. The remnants of ancient civilizations continue to reverberate throughout the streets of this seaside metropolis. On our day of respite, we shall delve into the exploration of the historic district and its environs.
Day 7 SYRACUSE TO CEFALU
It’s time for leisure!
Departing from Syracuse, we continue our journey along the winding roads towards Cefalu. The medieval town enchants us with its picturesque squares, streets, and churches that resemble scenes straight out of a postcard. We eagerly explore the narrow, cobbled streets, concluding the day with a delightful dinner in the pleasant ambiance of the charming port. Cefalù, a small town bursting with atmosphere and charm, boasts not only sandy beaches but also a significant presence in Italian cinema, including the award-winning film Cinema Paradiso. The alluring crescent-shaped beach invites us to indulge in safe and warm swimming in the Tyrrhenian Sea, while surrounding wooded mountains provide a scenic backdrop. Just a short distance inland lies the magnificent Madonie natural park, where historic villages, diverse wildlife, and some of Sicily’s highest peaks await our discovery.
Day 8 CEFALU TO TAORMINA
After departing from Cefalu, we will embark on a thrilling journey along exceptional winding roads that will lead us to the regional parks of Madonie and Nebrodi. These parks stretch across the northeastern coastline of Sicily, facing the Tyrrhenian Sea. Numerous peaks within these parks reach heights exceeding 1500 meters, collectively forming the majestic Sicilian Apennines. In the afternoon, we will venture into the ancient town of Taormina. Perched atop a hill, this small yet elegant town has long been a favored tourist destination, thanks to its advantageous location, pleasant climate, and enchanting atmosphere. Throughout the day, the magnificent presence of Mount Etna towering above us will serve as an irresistible temptation for our adventure on the following day.
Day 9 REST DAY TAORMINA ( Etna loop)
Taormina, with its breathtaking beaches and radiant sunrises, exerts a magnetic pull on both beauty enthusiasts and adventure seekers. While unabashedly catering to tourists and boasting a main street adorned with upscale designer shops, the town retains its inherent allure with its splendid medieval churches, a remarkable Greek theater, and sweeping vistas of the Gulf of Naxos and Mount Etna. For those eager to embark on a ride today, the winding road leading to this extraordinary mountain awaits—an awe-inspiring sight and one of the world’s most active volcanoes. Mount Etna, renowned for its natural splendor, abundant flora and fauna, has rightfully earned its place on the prestigious UNESCO World Heritage Sites list.
Day 10 TAORMINA TO TROPEA
The breathtaking shift in scenery between Sicily and Calabria is a mesmerizing sight, where the vibrant orange hues of Sicilian citrus trees give way to the mesmerizing turquoise beaches of Tropea. The stark contrasts in colors, customs, and landscapes are bound to leave you in awe. As we bid farewell to Sicily, we embark on a brief ferry ride that takes us across to Calabria, where our journey northward begins along the picturesque coastline, leading us all the way to Tropea. This town proudly perches atop a commanding cliff overlooking the gulf of St. Euphemia. Known as the Costa degli Dei—the “Coast of the Gods”—this stretch of coastline along the Tyrrhenian Sea stands as one of Italy’s most exquisite summer retreats, captivating visitors with its unparalleled beauty.
Day 11 TROPEA TO MARATEA
Today’s journey is dedicated to immersing ourselves in untouched nature and reveling in breathtaking vistas. As we venture inland, we bid farewell to Tropea and set out to explore the vast expanse of La Sila Grande National Park, before continuing our expedition towards Maratea. This idyllic town presents a stark contrast to the rugged and secluded interior of Basilicata, offering a refreshing departure from the rest of the region. Adorned with lush greenery, secluded coves, and meticulously maintained cliffside villages, Maratea’s hidden treasures bear resemblance to the delights found along the Amalfi Coast, albeit with fewer crowds to contend with.
Day 12 MARATEA TO AMALFI
It’s time to head north to the Amalfi Coast!
The path curves upward through the untamed beauty of oak forests in the Cilento Natural Park. After an exhilarating journey through the mountains, the landscape transforms from rugged to coastal, with pleasant stretches of flat terrain. We’ll make a stop at the ancient Greek temples in Paestum before arriving at the heart of the magnificent Amalfi Coast. We’ll spend the night in vibrant Amalfi, surrounded by countless twinkling lights.
Day 13 REST DAY IN AMALFI
The Amalfi Coast will fill you with delight – and it’s not just because its famous winding coastal road features unbelievably steep mountainsides and dramatic drops.
No, it’s because this place is both astonishingly beautiful and incredibly glamorous. Artists, writers, and movie stars all come here seeking everything from sunshine to inspiration. You can take a leisurely ride down to the stylish downtown of Positano and the picturesque Ravello to immerse yourself in the Italian way of life. Alternatively, you can explore the nearby excavations of Pompeii. This city, buried in just two days when Mount Vesuvius erupted in 79 AD, offers a captivating glimpse into ancient Roman civilization.
Day 14 AMALFI TO ROME
As we bid farewell to Amalfi, we will return to the very place where our adventure started.
Reflecting on the journey from Sicily to the Amalfi Coast, our thoughts will accompany us during the ride to Rome, as we make our way to our final destination of Frascati.
Day 15 FLIGHT HOME
Rome is the destination that all roads converge upon.
And now, we have arrived. If your departure is scheduled for later in the day, you’ll have the opportunity to further immerse yourself in the wonders of this timeless city. It will be time to bid farewell to your newfound companions, extending wishes of many safe journeys ahead for everyone.
